DAILY BLESSINGS

 THURSDAY JANUARY 14

        A View of Unseen Things

Where there in no vision, the people perish.    Proverbs 29:18

Open our eyes, Dear Lord
that we may see
the far vast reaches of eternity
Help us to look beyond life’s little cares
so prone to fret us
and the grief that wears
our courage thin
O may we tune our hearts
to Thy great harmony
that all the parts may ever be
in perfect, sweet accord
Give us Thine own clear vision, blessed Lord

Lord Jesus Christ, it is only possible to have a view of unseen things through You. Thank You that You are willing to give it to us.

DAILY BLESSINGS

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 13

Neighbor, which report will we give?

“As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, 12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.”

                                                                                                                                    1 Thessalonians 2:11-12

When the twelve spies were sent into Canaan to spy out the land, ten returned with a bad report. Their assessment was that it was impossible to conquer the land that God had promised them. Forgetting how God had led them with a pillar of fire by night, and fed them manna from heaven during the day, brought forth water out of a rock, and parted the Red Sea, they saw the situation with only their natural eyes, failed to walk by faith, and succumbed to fear.

Joshua and Caleb however, returned with a good report. Refusing to be discouraged by what they saw, they fully trusted that their supernatural God was not going to break His promise to His people, Israel.

We are living in days where the world looks bleak, and the evils seem to grow more threatening and dangerous. How will we react? Will we be devastated and terrorized like the 10 spies with a bad report? Or will we do something extraordinary -- will we walk by faith like Joshua and Caleb, trust in the love and power of our God, and seize the opportunities that are at hand?

Neighbor, let's walk by faith and stand firm in it, facing every challenge, and laying hold of every opportunity that awaits us. May Joshua and Caleb be our examples of faith and courage these days. With our God going before us, we also, can take the land, glorifying Him in every battle.  G. Whitten, Lucas, Texas

DAILY BLESSINGS

  MONDAY JANUARY 11

      Complete Protection

The LORD is thy keeper: ……. 7. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. 8. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Psalm 121:5, 7–8

The psalmist has a message of comfort. The LORD is also our preserver. The one who created the whole universe — the mountains, the seas, the stars. He, too, who created, will preserve us. He will preserve us from all evil. The LORD will preserve our going out and our coming in.

It’s good to know that The LORD is with you, not only when you begin the journey, but when you come to the end. Not only when you go out to work in the morning, but when you come back home in the evening. The LORD is still with you and He will preserve you and keep you from this time forth and forever.

The LORD’s protection extends not only through time, but out of time and into eternity. The LORD keeps us during each journey that we take through time and one day we’ll be taking another journey. We will be leaving time. We’ll be stepping out into eternity. But how good it is to know that even when we take that last journey, The LORD will preserve and keep not merely our going out but our coming in. He’ll see us safely through the portals of time and into the fullness of eternity and He’ll be there to welcome us. The Creator — The LORD is our keeper. (D. Leggatt)

DAILY BLESSINGS

 TUESDAY JANUARY 5

Do You Look Like the Lord?

"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11. Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness." Colossians 1:9-11

It is very dark in the world. The mist is getting thicker and thicker. Where there is no vision, the people perish. The Lord is not willing to keep us in the dark, but wants to guide us with His victorious light.

Lord Jesus Christ, what a comfort that Your insight and vision are perfect. Please help me to see things from Your point of view. (Corrie Ten Boom)

DAILY BLESSINGS

 MONDAY JANUARY 4

     Never-Failing Help

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. Psalm 121:1–3, 5

The psalmist there looks at the mountains in their majesty and in their grandeur and then he makes this statement: from whence cometh my help And he is reminding us of the great Creator, the one who formed the mountains, the seas and the whole earth and he rejoices to know that the Creator is also his helper. He says, My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” The same God that created all these mighty marvels that we see in creation, created us.

Not only did He create us, The Lord is thy keeper.” He that keepeth thee will not slumber.” I had a little picture once of a little boy in his father’s arms, holding on very tight to his father’s lapel in case he should fall, but after awhile he nodded off and went to sleep and his hand slipped away from his father’s lapel, but his father held him just as securely whether he was holding onto his father or not. And that’s how our relationship with God is. Sometimes we think we just have to hold on tight to God but when we fall asleep God still holds us even if we are not holding Him.

He who keeps us will neither slumber nor sleep. He is the great Creator. (D. Leggatt)
